VPI Technology Group Announces Large Government Contract

Tuesday September 13, 2016

DRAPER, UT—VPI Technology Group (VPI) is pleased to announce that it has received an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract valued at up to $165 million over the next ten years from the Department of Defense for the development of an advanced radiological detection system to be used across all branches of the United States Armed Forces. This contract will allow VPI to use its expertise in the design and development of radiation detection technologies to provide the best possible system for America’s service personnel. “Supporting the U.S. military with the development of an advanced radiological detection system is a great opportunity for VPI to provide a highly-reliable system for those who serve us. With VPI’s extensive experience in designing, engineering, and manufacturing radiation detection systems, this program is a strong fit with our capabilities. We are looking forward to working on this project and producing a successful system,” stated Gary Olsen, VPI’s Vice President of Business Development.

D-tect Systems Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of VPI, provides a full range of radiological and chemical detection instruments, including custom detection systems designed specifically to customer requirements. The development of new, advanced radiological detection systems under this contract will complement the full range of radiological and chemical detection equipment provided by D-tect Sytems.

VPI Technology Group Cuts the Ribbon
at their New Draper Facility

DRAPER—VPI Technology Group was thrilled to hold an open house at their new Draper facility on June 24, 2016. We are sincerely grateful to our clients, vendors, and local dignitaries who were able to attend. Those in attendance included Draper Mayor Troy Walker, President of the Draper Chamber of Commerce Bill Rappleye, Don Olsen from Representative Mia Love’s Office, Nathan Jackson from Senator Hatch’s Office, Megan Selin from Representative Greg Hughes’ Office, and Tom Wadsworth from Governor Gary Herbert’s Office. After touring the facility, Thomas Wadsworth stated, “VPI has opened a fantastic technology center which can make Utah proud.” The event was a great success with many of our valued clients, employees, and vendors touring the new facility and observing the ribbon cutting ceremony.

State-of-the-Art Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Test Laboratory

The new facility has added to VPI Laboratories’ capability by featuring one of the nation’s finest Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) test environments. VPI Laboratories provides regulatory compliance testing as required by the Federal Communication Commission (FCC), Industry Canada (IC), European CE Mark, and other international regulatory authorities. The new test laboratory complements VPI’s EMC open area test site in Wanship, Utah. Between both facilities, VPI Laboratories can fully cover the EMC regulatory compliance needs for customers.


Increased Manufacturing Space to Accommodate Growth and New Jobs

This facility also expands VPI Manufacturing’s size and capabilities. Building on 20 years of manufacturing experience, the investment expands VPI Manufacturing’s space in order to keep up with increasing demands. VPI Manufacturing is well known for its capabilities and expertise in providing assembly and manufacturing services for complex, unique, and high-quality products, as well as proven contract management services for large volume production through its Asia-based supply chain. VPI Manufacturing is a best-in-class organization that follows industry proven best practices to manufacture high-quality products, implement and maintain rigid QA controls, and ensure traceability for all production. Test Engineer (2+ years of experience)

Job location: Draper, Utah

VPI seeks a talented and dedicated Test Engineer with comprehensive experience designing, developing, and executing manual functional/integration test cases.


Qualifications and Requirements

Education and Experience:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen eligible for U.S. Security Clearance
  • BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Information Systems
  • 2+ years of Software QA Experience
  • Experience testing on various platforms from web-based to embedded systems
  • Experience generating a test plan/strategy from system requirements and then create test cases and maintain them
  • Experience with Automation tools and scripting
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL
  • Experience with source-control (i.e., GIT, CVS, etc)
  • Create/execute smoke test suite when new major builds are ready to be released
  • Create regression test suite and execute before major releases are pushed to production.

Facility Security Officer and Operations Manager (5+ years of experience)

Job location: Draper, Utah

VPI Technology Group (VPI) is seeking a motivated Facility Security Officer and Operations Manager to work in its Draper, Utah office. This person will work closely with government agencies and offices and provide security support for government contracts. The ideal candidate will be well-organized and passionate about protecting customer, partner, and company data. In addition, this person will support the Director of Operations in overseeing the day-to-day operations for the company, including IT, facilities, inventory, compliance, corporate safety and security.


Qualifications and Requirements

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required with a related focus preferred
  • U.S. citizenship required due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements
  • Active U.S. secret security clearance at time of hire preferred
  • 5 years’ experience supervising and directing security measures necessary to protect classified information and help support the daily operations of a business
  • 3 years’ operations management experience in warehouse operations (i.e., receiving, shipping, inventory control) preferred
  • Certification and/or experience in Lean Six Sigma and/or Green Belt certification is a plus but not required
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Maintain facility clearance processes using e-FCL process (i.e. records retention, filing)
