VPI Technology Group Announces Large Government Contract

Tuesday September 13, 2016

DRAPER, UT—VPI Technology Group (VPI) is pleased to announce that it has received an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract valued at up to $165 million over the next ten years from the Department of Defense for the development of an advanced radiological detection system to be used across all branches of the United States Armed Forces. This contract will allow VPI to use its expertise in the design and development of radiation detection technologies to provide the best possible system for America’s service personnel. “Supporting the U.S. military with the development of an advanced radiological detection system is a great opportunity for VPI to provide a highly-reliable system for those who serve us. With VPI’s extensive experience in designing, engineering, and manufacturing radiation detection systems, this program is a strong fit with our capabilities. We are looking forward to working on this project and producing a successful system,” stated Gary Olsen, VPI’s Vice President of Business Development.

D-tect Systems Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of VPI, provides a full range of radiological and chemical detection instruments, including custom detection systems designed specifically to customer requirements. The development of new, advanced radiological detection systems under this contract will complement the full range of radiological and chemical detection equipment provided by D-tect Sytems.

VPI Project on The Today Show

February 28, 2017

VPI designed and installed a modernized control system for the Rayburn Subway. The subway has been used as a mode of transportation for congresspeople since the 60s as they've traveled to and from the capitol. In February, the subway was shown on a segment of The Today Show called, "Secrets of the US Capitol: Ghosts, Underground Subways, Secret Crypts."

VPI Technology Group (VPI) is seeking a dedicated Business Development Account Manager to work in its Draper, Utah office. This position will support the Business Development team for VPI Technology Group and D-tect Systems. The ideal candidate will be well-organized, energetic, and passionate about promoting and selling engineering and manufacturing services offered by VPI. This is a full-time, salaried, non-commission job opportunity.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required with a related focus preferred
  • U.S. citizenship required due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements

Material Planner/Buyer (base salary depends on experience and skill set)

Job location: Draper, Utah

VPI seeks an experienced Buyer to join our team. This person will have more than 3 years procurement experience with electronical components applicable to product development. This person will enjoy fast-pace work environments, and assume responsibility for component and finished goods supply of multiple product lines, planning and buying for materials requirements and ensuring flow of materials to the production floor and customer. This position will reside full time in our office’s headquarters in Draper, Utah.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) required
  • Associates degree or 4-year college degree is preferred
  • 3+ years of procurement experience within electronics manufacturing is required
  • Experience with Six Sigma, lean facilitation, and continuous improvement is preferred
  • Remarkable problem solving skills with a bias for speed
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of cycle counts, BOM’s, ECO process, and item attributes
  • Ability to read and interpret documents (i.e., procedures, schematics, and BOM)

  • Collaborate with engineering on product design reviews and technology roadmap alignment toward preferred supply base
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to achieve technology, cost, quality, and delivery
  • Perform material requirements planning through high interaction/coordination with manufacturing personnel
  • Provide materials’ support by coordinating and scheduling material purchase orders; responsible for procuring within needed lead times at best-cost/terms
  • Effectively manage material requirement changes resulting from Engineering Change Notifications, produce End of Life (EOL) or produce End of Support
  • Maintain integrity of data and manage inventory; maintain accuracy of inventory transactions throughout entire planning process
  • Participate in the daily management process by taking full ownership of exceeding delivery and inventory targets
  • Provide Support to the manufacturing line by resolving all material issues in a timely manner and interfacing with materials group, customer service, quality, and suppliers to ensure all customer needs are met or exceeded Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
